My Neighbor in Need & My Student in Need to merge with Saint Vincent de Paul

My Neighbor in Need provides an anonymous resource for asking for and providing help between neighbors within our community, and My Student in Need provides an anonymous resource for teachers to ask for help for their students from individuals in our community.

My Neighbor in Need began operation on March 20, 2012 and My Student in Need opened its doors on September 27, 2013. Currently, My Neighbor in Need has fulfilled 18,248 needs and My Student in Need has fulfilled 4,478 needs. Both organizations were founded by Great Falls resident, Dave Snuggs.

“For almost 13 years My Neighbor in Need and My Student in Need have been there to provide HOPE and HELP to those in need. The need for our services has never stopped, not even during Covid-19. However, the past two years we have seen a large uptick in need requests and although we were able to fulfill 88.87% of those need requests, in order to leave a legacy of good we needed to update our business model and merge with Saint Vincent de Paul,” said Dave Snuggs, Founder and Executive Director. “We know that together we are more powerful than if we work alone. Our relationship with Saint Vincent de Paul has been wonderful! For over six years Saint Vincent de Paul has been a ‘Good Deed Doer Partner’ by fulfilling need requests for furniture, appliances, household items, and clothing. Now that we are merging, I believe that even more need requests will be fulfilled,” said Snuggs.

“We have an agreement in principal and are working on a final agreement which I expect to be effective in the next 30-days, so the merger will be completed by the end of the year. All of the services that are currently provided by My Neighbor in Need and My Student in Need including the Free Pet Food Pantry will continue to operate just as they have since they came online. Donations made to fulfill a need request or for general donations will continue to go directly to the selected organization whether it be My Neighbor in Need or My Student in Need,” said Snuggs.

Arby’s Launches Fundraising Campaign Benefitting My Neighbor in Need

Beginning Monday, July 1st and continuing through Tuesday, December 31st, a quick and simple fundraising opportunity will take place benefitting My Neighbor in Need, a 13-year-old non-profit organization born in Great Falls. Every time you visit either Arby’s location in Great Falls, you will be asked to make a one-dollar donation or “round-up” your total to the nearest dollar. “I am thrilled that Arby’s has selected My Neighbor in Need to be the beneficiary of their customers’ kindness,” said Dave Snuggs, Founder and Executive Director of My Neighbor in Need. “Those nickels and dimes add up and will have a positive impact to those we serve.”

Arby’s is located at 1300 Third Street NW and 801 10th Ave South. Donations are accepted both inside the restaurants and through the drive-thru.

My Neighbor in Need began operation on March 20, 2012. Since the launch, My Neighbor in Need has fulfilled over 18,100 need completions. Both My Neighbor in Need and My Student in Need are managed by just two paid staff members and the organization does not receive any government funding or United Way dollars.

Celebrating 13 Years Of Service

www.myneighborineed.org a revolutionary and proprietary website system that provides local citizens a way to ask for help from their community and a way for the community to give back is celebrating their 13-year anniversary.

Created by Great Falls resident Dave Snuggs and launched on March 20, 2012, My Neighbor in Need has completed 17,978 need fulfillments. “Once again, we celebrate the power of kindness and generosity that is alive and well in our backyard! And today, we remind people that if you give today, we can help today,” Snuggs said. “What started out as the simple idea of anonymous giving has grown into a movement encompassing other social services needed by members of the community including www.mystudentinneed.org and the free Pet Food Pantry.”

In 12 years, My Neighbor in Need has received just over 20,245 requests for help and has fulfilled 88% of those requests. “I originally hoped that we would be able to fulfill about 200 needs per year. I never thought that we would be standing here 12 years later knowing that we are so close to completing our 18,000th completed need fulfillment! Our ability to provide Hope and Help is made possible by caring individuals, local business partners, sponsors, dedicated board members, volunteers, and other non-profit organizations such as Saint Vincent De Paul.” Snuggs said.

“In addition, I would like to send out a You Rock award to the Great Falls Tribune and STARadio. Both of these amazing companies have been with us from day one! The Great Falls Tribune prints our column every Sunday and STARadio showcases needs each week. These generous businesses help connect those in need with those willing to help.” Snuggs said.

www.myneighborinneed.org allows for anyone to ask for help with a specific need whether the need is for themselves or for someone else in their community. Anyone in need is encouraged to call (406) 750-2542 or stop by our office at 513 2nd Ave South Great Falls, MT. 59405. My Neighbor in Need/My Student in Need is a 501c3, tax exempt, non-profit organization. Operational costs are underwritten by contributions from kind individuals and generous businesses.
